These terms apply to the Franca app for iPhone. By using the app you agree to them. Where these terms are silent, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.
What Franca is
Franca provides live, automated interpretation between spoken languages. Translations are produced by machine-learning models in real time.
Translations can be wrong
Franca is not a certified interpreter. Automated translation can mishear, mistranslate, or omit meaning — especially with names, numbers, dialects, or noisy surroundings. Do not rely on Franca where a mistranslation could cause harm, including medical, legal, financial, or emergency situations. You are responsible for verifying anything important.
Subscriptions and time packs
- Interpreting time is provided through auto-renewing subscriptions and, where offered, one-time packs, billed by Apple to your App Store account.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings.
- Where a free trial is offered, unused trial time is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Subscription time refreshes each period and does not carry over. Purchased packs don't expire.
- Time is measured while speech is being interpreted; listening and silence are not counted.
Fair use
Don't use Franca to break the law, to harass or defraud others, to record people without any legally required consent, or to probe, overload, or reverse-engineer the service. We may suspend access that abuses the service.
Availability
Franca depends on network connectivity and third-party AI services. We aim to keep it available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and features may change as the app evolves.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Franca is provided "as is", and our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app evolves; material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date above.
